THE GIVING CHECK PHOTO CONTEST — OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE OR DONATION NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR DONATION WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
These Official Rules govern the The Stewardship Group of the UPCI and the United Pentecostal Foundation Giving Photo Contest (the “Contest”). By entering, participants agree to be bound by these rules and by the decisions of The Stewardship Group (“Sponsor”), which are final in all matters relating to the Contest.
The purpose of this contest is to increase ministry awareness, ministry engagement, and understanding of Biblical principles about helping others, giving, and financial stewardship, and to educate the UPCI constituency on the products offered by the United Pentecostal Foundation. The Sponsor is planning to donate $5,000 toward the United Pentecostal Foundation through a charitable giving fund but seeks to involve a UPCI constituent in helping recommend the designation or purpose of this donation to an appropriate ministry to further the education of the UPCI constituency and awareness of the Foundation.
A. Sponsor
The Stewardship Group, 36 Research Park Court, Weldon Spring, MO 63304, is the sponsor of this Contest.
B. Contest Period
The Contest begins on Tuesday, Sept. 29 6:00 PM MST and ends on Friday, Oct. 2 5:00 PM MST (the “Contest Period”). All entries must be posted and all countable engagement (likes/reactions and comments only — see Section E) must occur during the Contest Period to be counted. Sponsor’s server/system clock is the official timekeeper.
C. Eligibility
Open to UPCI constituents who are attending UPCI General Conference 2026 and who are at least 18 years old at the time of entry. Employees, officers, and directors of Sponsor and its affiliated ministries, and their immediate family members (spouse, parents, siblings, children) or household members, are not eligible to participate.
Void where prohibited by law.
D. How to Enter
Step 1 (all entrants): Write your name, a gift amount up to $5,000, and your favorite ministry on the provided dry-erase check display near the United Pentecostal Foundation counter and take a photo posing with the check.
Step 2: Post your photo publicly to your own Instagram feed. In the caption, tag @UPCStewardship, name your favorite ministry, use the hashtag #GivingCheck, and include the required disclaimer copy. Your account and post must remain public through the end of the Contest Period so engagement can be verified.
Disclaimer copy: No purchase necessary to enter/win. Prize: Donor Advised Fund gift (up to $5,000) to winner’s chosen ministry — no personal funds awarded. Rules: StewardshipConnect.com/GivingCheck.
Disclaimer compliance: Entries missing the required disclaimer text, in whole or in part, may be disqualified at Sponsor’s sole discretion. Sponsor may, but is not obligated to, accept entries with minor wording variations (e.g., paraphrased or abbreviated disclaimer language) as substantially compliant, provided the core required disclosures — no purchase necessary and no personal funds awarded to winner — are reasonably conveyed.
Step 3: That’s it — no purchase, donation, or additional sharing is required to enter or to be eligible to win. You’re welcome to also share the contest with friends if you’d like, but doing so has no effect on your chances of winning (see Section E).
Limit: One (1) entry per person on one platform. Multiple entries from the same individual (including via multiple accounts or platforms) will not be counted.
E. Judging / Winner Selection
Winner will be the eligible entry with the highest Engagement Score, calculated as:
Engagement Score = (Comments × 2) + (Likes/Reactions × 1)
measured across the entrant’s Instagram post as of Friday, Oct. 2 5:00 PM MST. Shares, reposts, or Story reshares are not counted toward the Engagement Score and have no effect on winning, consistent with Meta’s policy that personal timelines and shares must not be used to administer promotions. Only comments and likes/reactions from third parties (not the entrant’s own account) count. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify engagement it determines, in its sole discretion, to be fraudulent, purchased, bot-generated, or otherwise not reflective of genuine audience interaction. The Stewardship Group may consult with the pastor of any finalist to secure the pastor’s recommendation before naming a Contest winner. The recommendation may be a factor the Sponsor uses in determining the Contest winner.
In the event of a tie, Sponsor will select the winner based on earliest post time.
Winner will be notified via the contact information/social handle used to enter within three business days of the Contest Period ending.
F. Prize
One (1) winner will receive: a Donor Advised Fund established by the United Pentecostal Foundation in the winner’s honor with funds provided by the Sponsor, with a value determined by the winner’s final Engagement Score on a sliding scale between a minimum of $1,000 and a maximum of $5,000, benefiting the ministry the winner named at entry.
Important prize conditions:
- The Donor Advised Fund and its contents are established and owned by the United Pentecostal Foundation, not by the winner personally. The winner does not receive, and cannot direct disbursement of, personal cash, check, or funds.
- The DAF grant is directed to the winner’s selected ministry; if that ministry is not an eligible recipient under Foundation/DAF policy, the United Pentecostal Foundation reserves the right to substitute a similar eligible ministry of comparable mission focus, or to contact the winner to recommend an alternate.
- No cash or other substitution is permitted, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion.
- Tax note for entrants: Because the DAF is established in the winner’s honor but is owned and controlled by the United Pentecostal Foundation rather than granted directly to the winner, Sponsor’s position is that this does not constitute taxable income to the winner. Sponsor recommends winners consult their own tax advisor.
G. Publicity Release
Except where prohibited, participation in the Contest constitutes winner’s consent to Sponsor’s use of their name, likeness, photo, hometown, and statements for promotional purposes in any media, without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
H. General Conditions
- Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Contest for any reason to include, but not limited to, fraud, technical failures, or any other factor Sponsor determines necessary to ensure the integrity of the Contest and to comply with law and policy.
- Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, incomplete, misdirected, or undeliverable entries; for social media platform outages; or for any change to Instagram policies that affects the Contest.
- This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Meta, Instagram, or Facebook. Entrants release Meta from any liability.
I. Platform Compliance
This Contest is designed to comply with Meta’s Pages, Groups and Events promotion policies: entries are not administered via personal Facebook timelines, and shares/reposts are not required for entry or used in winner selection.
J. Governing Law
This Contest and these Official Rules shall be governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict of law principles.
